Our Pastor

Family Portrait 10-2011

Pastor Mike West was born in Vallejo into a Navy family. He lived in several different communities as the family moved to new navy assignments. He later enlisted in the US Navy and served as an aviation ordnanceman.

While serving aboard the USS Constellation, he read the New Testament and came to have faith in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for sins. Soon after, he began to share his faith in Jesus Christ with his friends and family. This instilled in him a desire to serve the Lord as a pastor or missionary.

After leaving the Navy, Mike served in two California churches, where his desire to serve the Lord vocationally continued to grow. He received a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Northland Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin. His wife, Kim, is also a Northland graduate.

Mike received practical training for four years at Huron Baptist Church in Michigan and then attended Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity. During his years in California, Wisconsin, and Michigan, he worked in various vocations, including grocery, retail, window manufacturing, and the U.S. Postal service as a letter carrier.

Prior to serving at Vallejo Bible Church, Mike has served as pastor of two California churches: a church plant in Santa Rosa, and a church in Susanville. The Wests have two children: Josiah (2001) and Carolyn (2003).
